Egypt was home to one of the oldest civilizations in world history. Founded on the fertile lands of the Nile River, this civilization has made great progress in many fields such as art, science, architecture, agriculture and religion for thousands of years.
Throughout its history dating back to the 4th millennium BC, Egypt has hosted many different kingdoms, dynasties and empires. First, around 3100 BC, Egypt became a unified kingdom with the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt, the two regions in the Nile Valley. The Old Kingdom period, when the first kings ruled, took place between 2686 and 2181 BC. During this period, iconic structures such as the pyramids and sphinxes were built, and Egyptian art and writing flourished.
The Middle Kingdom period, which took place between 2040 and 1640 BC, is characterized by increased trade and reunification. During this period, Egypt began to expand and annexed as far as the Levant and the eastern coast of Africa.
The New Kingdom period, which took place between 1550 and 1069 BC, is one of the most powerful periods in Egypt. During this period, famous pharaohs such as Ramses II ruled and major construction projects were carried out. Also, many famous structures such as Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and Hatshepsut's Temple were also built during this period.
In 332 BC, Alexander the Great, king of Macedonia, captured Egypt and started the Hellenistic period, which lasted until 30 BC. Egypt later became part of the Roman Empire and came under Arab rule with the spread of Islam in the 7th century AD. Afterwards, Egypt became part of the Ottoman Empire and gained its independence as a modern nation in the early 20th century.
Egypt has hosted many different civilizations throughout its history. The fertile lands of the Nile River have made great progress in many fields such as art, science, architecture and religion.
In addition, Egypt has witnessed many important events throughout its history. One of them was the discovery of the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun. This discovery accelerated research on Egypt's heritage and ancient ruins.
Egypt is also known for the Great Pyramids, one of the most famous works in world history, built around 2500 BC. The pyramids show the power and wealth of Egypt in ancient times. These structures still arouse worldwide admiration even today.
